Networked Bodies, 2019

Networked Bodies explores our entanglement with new technologies, how they have reconstructed our bodies and changed our perception of self. In the process, it investigates the themes of contemporary bodies, identity and the in-between. The work challenges dualities between human and technology, new and old, and inside and outside of the human body. Networked Bodies also references jewellery histories, exploring how the jewellery object, as an extension of the body, expresses our connections to a network of people and places. Through performance I investigate how the objects choreograph the body, exploring the boundaries and interplay between external and internal worlds.  Furthermore, only when the body merges with the jewellery object the work is complete, in this way the body becomes a collaborator or material.
